Why I am supporting Mark Carney for Leader of the Liberal Party and Prime Minister of Canada

Having spent the last few days with Mark I am confident in his commitment to Reconciliation and revisiting the basic human right of ensuring Indigenous communities have clean and consistent drinking water, that he will place a renewed focus on economic stability for all Canadians as well as being an intelligent steward of our environment and natural resources.  Those among many other priorities are some of the critical issues I heard repeatedly as I visited communities these past few weeks – I believe Mark understands the position we find ourselves in as Canadians in this moment and I believe he has a strategy to address those issues across the board.

Not only do I support his fiscal policies I know he has the diligence to deliver a strong financial mandate for all Canadians. I believe he is uniquely suited to address the looming tariffs we will need to navigate in the coming days, weeks and months ahead.

Having suspended my campaign to support Mark’s candidacy I am also encouraged and inspired with the recognition of what it meant to be the first Indigenous candidate to run for Prime Minister.  This is a legacy for all Canadians - non-Indigenous and Indigenous alike - and my hope is that if nothing else these last few weeks painted a picture for a young boy or girl somewhere who can now better see that anything is possible in their lifetimes, that they can be part of our leadership and help guide the greatest country in the world. Today, I know with certainty, that in the shorter term we will be fortunate to have Mr. Mark Carney lead and guide Canada.
